Merchants on any of our paid subscriptions can make use of our multi-device stock-taking feature. All open stocktakes are displayed on the “Start” page of the app under the section labelled “Continue stock-taking”. Any user may join an open stocktake by selecting it and clicking “Next”.

Devices are identified using a unique letter code starting with “A” and increase in sequence for each new device. For example, the second device that joins a stocktake will be labeled device “B”, the third device that joins will be labeled device “C”, etc.
The “Actual stock” count for your current device is marked with a blue circle (arrow 1). The stock counts from the other devices are labeled with a grey circle (arrow 2). A total of your stock count and that of the other devices is displayed above the grey circles.
When you want to save your data and fetch any changes from our server click the “Save” button (arrow 3). Only data that has been synchronized by clicking this button is available to each device in the stocktake, i.e. data is not exchanged in real-time as you scan inventory.

Once you are done counting all listed products, users should click “Save & exit” from the “More actions” menu on their device. Only one device should “Update inventory” in Shopify, this device will automatically “Save” and pick up the latest data from our server before doing an update. It is best to check the list of products that are going to be updated by clicking on the “Mismatched” tab. The “Mismatched” tab will display all products with Shopify reported stock different from your Actual counted stock. These are the only products the app will update.
Note
- The app will auto-save your counted data to our server every 5 minutes if you are idle for 10 seconds.
- Any user can cancel a stocktake or do an Inventory update. The stocktake is closed for all users when this is done. You can change your Preference so that only the store owner can do an update or start or cancel a stocktake.
- Stocktakes expire after 60 days and are deleted from our server. If your stock take is delayed or if you plan on taking longer than 60 days, export your stock data in CSV format, start a new stocktake, and import your CSV data.
- There is no limit on the number of devices that can participate in a stocktake.
- Effective May 30th, 2024, you no longer need to use different Shopify logins on identical devices such as iPads running the Shopify Mobile app. You may reuse the same Shopify login on multiple devices.
